I was just at the BLM adoption in Ocala, FL on 2-5-12 and had two "wild" mustang geldings licking my hands and one of them had me scratching his itchy ears and mane. They approached me very quickly and wanted to be friends. If I actually was in a position to adopt horses (not yet) I'd have taken them both without the slightest hesitation. They were practically begging me to take them. Heck, I'd have taken the whole family group in that pen if I had the resources.

Some are rank, some not.. Get one that has run as a stud for a few years, cut his balls off and see how much he likes humans. Some just have a little more survival fight in them. You picked a sweet one. We've had a few, saddled the first day, but one would charge across all teeth and pinned ears for a couple of weeks. We didn't get to pick ours, they selected them for us for Mustang Challenge. Good pick!

@dukeuke1 Perhaps you should clarify. Are you against all bits in general or only snaffles?

How tall would you say he is?
hansberrylovesyoux3 1 year ago
@hansberrylovesyoux3 he is 14.2 ish.. I haven't measured him lately I really should. :D There were taller ones / shorter ones etc. That is the great thing about going to the facility to adopt. They have all shapes / sizes / ages.

Lol , I have 2 Mustangs i adopted , had Velvet leading within a day , but alot more problems than what you had , but up to date I have been riding her now , never bucked , bit , crow hopped etc. So proud of her ,Beautiful horse =) I dont know why people spread rumors about how awful Mustangs are

@LilHollyIsDaBomb Rumors spread out of ignorance. Personally I think with ANY horse, there can be ones that are just going to be difficult to train. It's the gentling process that can be difficult. Once they are gentle...they should be treated like any other horse. Recently we purchased a "wild" yearling quarter filly. She was a lot worse than Tabasco to gentle and she had registration papers :D
