    yes they do... i played planetside 1, and they do..

    why do people work as a team? several reasons.

    first off, the game gives you more incentives to do the things that 'just happen' to take working together, such as more experience and rewards, etc..

    also, you feel much a part of a real faction, compared to 'you're either playing as the U.S. marines, or the not U.S. marines" feel you get in other FPS's...

    ALSO...there are massive 'guilds' that set objectives and 'raids' on enemy bases.
