  • Hi Donald,

What variety of okra do you plant? Have you tried the okra that is purple? I'm in Baton Rouge, so we're in the same planting zone. I just don't know what he best variety is.

    Thanks for the great video.

  • @LSUTigerMom ... We like the Cow Horn okra. Pick em when 4 inches long and they're hard to beat. I planted the purple a couple of years and they also do well........Donald

  • It looks like a lot of work. I'm afraid to ask how you picked them before. That must have been even harder if it took you two hours! Still well worth the effort though ! I love okra!

  • @MrAnthonyRizzo ...In the past I had to go threw there with a bucket and knife. With that much okra it took forever. Picking at 4 inches long it allows you to just snap them off, saves lots of time and the okra is so much better/tender......Donald

  • Yumm looks like some good eat'en

  • @Harleyman440 ...Good eating, easy to grow, produce all summer.......Donald

  • Four-inch okra is too tough! Pick the smaller ones. Saute them in olive oil and garlic.

  • @webcajun It makes sense and besides by snapping them of it allows you to do it with only one hand rather than the two you need with a knife. Smart discovery. Thanks for sharing the info. Good luck.

  • @lupo19fun ...If you pick the pods at around 4 inches I think you'll be ok.....Donald

  • loved your video, all my questions were answered just by watching how you picked them, and cut them. im guessing burgandy okra is the same.not sure if there much different or not though.
