I also saw this during classic on the Aggramar EU server and what ACTUALLY happened is that the server was so lagged out that it took about 45 seconds for an instant ability to go off and the world server crashed for hours..... That's why they don't do this sort of stuff anymore.

it makes me very sad that they never put this much effort in their game anymore, the gates of ahn'qiraj and the opening was like new expansion level big deal every level 60 on the server would get there arse over to silithus to be a part of it and that doesn't happen anymore, the only thing that i've ever seen like that again was every single fucking level 80 sitting on the flight trainer at the end of wotlk, =(

Blizz should make world events like this (on a smaller scale) more commonplace... It would make high level players head out into old zones again and would get people out of orgrimmar, make the game more social again :)
