John Kostecki and German backed entry Illbruck Challenge win the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-02 in Kiel, Germany. Defeating a field including Knut Frostad, Grant Dalton, Gunnar Krantz, Jez Fanstone, Neal McDonald, Roy Heiner, Ross Field and Lisa McDonald everyone was at action stations in the face of the elements from start to finish.

From my point of view, that was the best Volvo Ocean Race, ever. All crews where full of charismatic Sailors and Volvo 60 looked like well formed Hulls on the highest Level. The Race where full of Drama, euphorie, tactics... A "Hollywood Movie" could not make better. I will never forgot the way of Success from the dominating "Team Illbruck"
