Contact between Melbourne's Byron Pickett and Port Adelaide's Kane Cornes from the fourth quarter of Sunday's match was reviewed. It was the view of the panel that Pickett pinned both of Cornes' arms and dropped his knees behind the Port Adelaide player's body to take him to the ground. Cornes' knees dug into the ground, which propelled both players forward and caused Cornes' head to hit the ground. Pickett did not sling or drive Cornes into the ground. The forceful contact with the ground was due to both players' momentum and while the action resulted in an injury to Cornes, which was unfortunate, it was not a reportable offence.

  • pickett was the best thug in the afl, god he was good.

  • bullshit they're trying to outlaw those tackles... making shit like that change so the game is more "kid friendly" diminishes the origin of the game... the game was the toughest sport on earth up untill a few years ago when they decided to start changing all the rules so nooone got hurt... wasn't it back in those days that if you got hurt, you got up and dusted yourself off and plan a revenge attack later when you get a chance? if they're that worried about kids, dont let young kids play it then

  • never would have intended to hurt Kane, premiership teammates in 2004.

  • @cantworkitout it will be touch footy soon

  • Couldn't have happened to a better bloke. Onya Byron.

  • @illaghee1 nah Lloyd was a massive sniper

  • I understand why the dont like this tackle as there are many possible injuries that could occur by not protecting ur neck and face while being shoved into the grass but it is an efficient tackle

  • pickett was the real sniper of the afl, not lloydy

  • Pinned the arms on the way down after disposal of the ball. Free kick for sure!

  • good tackle if ya ask me

  • fuckwit

  • understandable regards to health with tackles like that cause if he landed awkwardly and broke his neck or something u may have a problem but the reason it shouldnt be is because thats what make afl players harder than the rest of the world
