Is this really it for Brett Favre? The Minnesota Vikings quarterback reportedly says he won't be back for another season in the NFL. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the 40-year-old Favre has indicated he's ready to retire - again. If true, this will be the third time Favre has retired from the game. Favre previously announced his retirement as a Green Bay Packers quarterback in 2008, and again in 2009 as quarterback of the New York Jets. Favre has not commented on reports of his retirement.

The Star-Tribune claims "multiple sources" have reported that Favre began telling Vikings team personel he was calling it quits on Monday, August 2, 2010. Shortly after the news broke, Vikings head coach Brad Childress said Favre hadn't approached him about his plans. Childress called the Favre situation "fluid." Denials of Favre's reported retirement also came from Vikings players.

The Associated Press is reporting that Favre has spoken to Childress recently about his injured ankle, saying it "is not responding as well to surgery and rehabilitation as he had hoped."

ESPN's Adam Schefter says Favre has told people "inside and outside the Vikings organization" that he "is not coming back to play again this season." ESPN reported that Favre sent text messages to his teammates saying "This is it."
