The cortege passes the Albert Hall where Diana saw Pavarotti shortly before her death. The congregation begins to arrive at the Abbey, guided in by the Royal Military Police, known as Redcaps. Big Ben can be heard striking 9.30.

As the procession nears Hyde Park Corner, David Dimbleby tells us a bit about the Gun Carriage and its use in state funerals.

I had an email from a viewer asking for a copy of the tape. I am looking into acquiring the equipment to make copies of it onto DVD. If successful, I will make copies available. I already have the capacity to make PAL VHS copies. Please email if interested.

  • her boys grew up I don't really know how old prince edward is or prince harry is? I don't know much about the royal family I live in houston texas ? RIP princess diana

  • Prince William is 26, he'll be 27 on 21 June. Prince Harry is 25, he'll be 26 on 15 September. This means they were 15 and 12 on 6 September 1997. Their uncle, Prince Edward is 45, he'll turn 46 on 10 March.

Hope this is of use to you. :)

  • I always felt once her HRH title was taken off her something bad would happen.

  • @superbev2000 Something did happen but it was an accident and Mohammed Al Fayed has yet to face up to his responsibility in causing it.

  • As an American I can say Americans were captivated by a kindergarten teacher who might have been queen and who carried herself so very well. Despite all her family turmoils, she carried herself as a true lady. I've heard a 'Queen of the people' in reference to Princess Diana, and it is an accurate statement. She seemed to know no boundries in reference to countries or politics. She simply seemed to care. We, world wide are poorer for her passing.

  • I agree we're poorer because of her passing, but it's more than ten years now and I think we've moved on a great deal. We will never forget her nonetheless.

  • @tribecatom Actually, Prince William will be 28 in June. He was born in 1982 ... :o)

  • the greatest moment in my life happened

  • @tribecatom Thank you! One for posting this and two for stating that it was an accident. And yes, Mohammed Al Fayed his yet to face up to his and his son's responsibility in it.. And also, Diana was somewhat responsible..had she been wearing a seatbelt, automotive experts stated that she would undoubtedly have survived.

  • I still feel a sense of emptiness after all these years since Princess Diana's passing. I live in San Antonio, TX, and I was in Lubbock, TX in 1997.

When she married Prince Charles, I was living in my home town of Syracuse, New York, and I remember getting up at 4:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time to watch the wedding.

  • Actually Prince William is 27 now and going to be 28 in June.

  • Yes they did - why not Watch the video - many many birds sang & chattered - If I was a twitcher or Bill Oddie - I could even identify the birds - nice sentiment but factually incorrect!

  • @Baltorocks123

They are actually know as The Queens Royal Guard - but were known as "Red Coats" - by the Americans - during the American revolution. Never heard of them being called redcaps - as their hats are bearskin hats - and bears are black - not red!!!!
