Omega 6 is a type of polyunsaturated fat that accumulates in blood and tissues when consumed in the vast quantities that we have been consuming them since the recent dawn of solvent-extracted vegetable oil, such as corn oil, soy oil, cottonseed oil, canola oil, and safflower oil. When this happens, it has the potential to catapult the eicosanoids of the autocrine hormone system into a state of chronic hyperinflammation. This has the potential to spell disaster, creating large releases of cortisol, which blocks the action of thyroid hormones and insulin, leading to insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and potentially type 2 diabetes and related disorders.
