Red Durkin, known gay, talks about her first (yes, believe it or no, FIRST!) Pride... or at least the first part of it, the Trans March. Watch closely and you just might see a glimmer of sincerity in those baggy blue racoon eyes.

  • I don't think it's fair to criticise the "Repeal Prop 8" banner at the front of the march, and to draw a false dichotomy between gay rights and trans rights. Transgender people get married too, or at least desire marriage, but face legal difficulties sometimes. With marriage equality, those difficulties are solved. Also, as more and more people accept homosexuality, their understanding about gender changes and becomes more enlightenend, which is good for the trans community, no?

  • @CitizenGeek I hear what you're saying, but I don't think Prop 8 is the "banner issue" of the trans comunity. While it's real to say that the gay marriage debate effects trans people, I think that safe and respectful healthcare/housing/jobs/law enforcement/support networks/etc. are much more universal concerns for trans people and putting a cause that (mostly) benefits cis people at the head of the trans march was, at least, inconsiderate and, at most, disrespectful.

  • Hey Red, I saw you at the Tranny Roadshow in Seattle and you were fucking fabulous. If you're still in Seattle, I'd love to have tea while you're here. Check out my channel so that you can see I'm not a crazyman and shoot me an email if you'd like. I hope you're well, and if I've missed you on your trip to Seattle, hope you had a good trip home.

  • @MrManRevolution Unfortunately, I'm already home in Oakland this morning. Next time I'm in Seattle, we will definitely have some tea.

  • I live in Oakland, CA. We can hang out anytime we're near eachother. =)

  • i really really need to know what the gayest thing ever was...

  • I seriously can't put it into words. Suffice it to say, it was a drag act that managed to combine trans masculinity, eurodance, fat positive stripping, and village people level syncro-gay dancing.
