It was more about money and resources, rather then killing... nobody would ever kill you in Serbia for failing invention. But Turks, Austrians and Germans were killing and occupying Serbia on a regular basis at that time, so it was not exactly the ambient for making inventions. Just in WWI Austrians killed 65% of male population in Serbia.

@hotnindza i just wanna say that all kinds of invantions are being with human history, the diference is that there was a coutry that gave te oportunitty to improve ideas with out killig u if fail!!! the usa.

I know Internet was invented in USA, I code in php and mysql, I know many things about inventions and scientists, I'm into music and graphics. I don't downgrade anything - I speak English, right?

I was mainly referring to cheech's comment. If everybody got off some other nation's invention, we would still be in the stone age. The mere fact that he was born in USA doesn't mean I should swallow his shit. When I buy from Amazon, I pay to USA budget as well, I'm equal to any American.

I never said I was jealous of US inventions. I use them every day. What art and architecture? USA can't beat Dutch in hundred years...

I just say inventions are not that easily "nationalized". So, if we should give up "American internet", you should give up on Chinese gunpowder, French and German fission, Arab/Indian mathematics, get it?

And the only issue I have with USA is that it bombed my country, but in terms of inventions, no need for jealousy, everybody should learn from it.

And the bottom-line is: you can't "own" technological inventions, they are often the result of very "interweaved" researches of many, many scientists, from many, many places around the world. Calling internet "American" is rather ignorant, considering how many inventions were involved shaping it. The guy whose comment I replied said "get off american internet". And do you know who invented tying shoelaces? Clothing, roads, mathematics, arts? Should Americans "get off" all of these?

Tesla declared himself as a SERB, and I never said he invented electricity, he invented a way to properly use it. And the difference between Bell's invention and Pupin's invention is like between a paperplane and jet plane. Some other serbian scientists: Pavle Savic (about nuclear fision), Ognjeslav Kostovic Stepanovic (the first plastic-arbonite). Google about the last two. Serbia was in heavy wars in those times (Balkan wars, WWI, WWII), of course they couldn't do research here...
