La piramide de castas manejada durante el virreinato debería ser la prueba mas grande para los incredulos sobre la presencia e influencia negras en la cultura, y especialmente en la conformación racial mexicana. Las posibles mezclas que esta contemplaba se daban a partir de 3 razas, no 2 como la mayoría de los mexicanos desinformadamente parecen creer.

La negritud se vió vinculada con la corrupción, el crimen, la violencia, la enfermedad, la lujuria y demas males que pudiesen afectar a la sociedad, por lo cual habría contraproducente para la imagen internacional del país, incluirla dentro del mosaico cultural de la nación en formación. Hoy en día ya no es posible mantenernos cerrados de ojos, esos mitos son solo eso, mitos, pero debemos eliminarlos para logar la aceptación y dignificación de la negritud en México.
