In my youth, this was the only way to enjoy hot popcorn at home. We didn't have a popcorn popper, and I had no idea how to pop my own through other methods. And yes indeed, getting scorched popcorn was a fact of life when it came to Jiffy Pop! I'd say that every time I had it, about 20-25% of it was burnt, all at the bottom. It was hard to find an ideal temperature. It had to be heated at high, or nothing popped. But what fun it was to watch it go! And it smelled great, too.
