Detroit Diesel on a stand running wide open with no governor until it stops. Sad to see yes, but interesting to see how tough the engine really is.

  • @TheBlazen001 I'm sure anything from Scania or Mercedes-Benz wouldn't last half as long in a runaway scenario. Both produce very good engines, but these old Detroits were nearly indestructible.

  • Better not send it to Green Peace.. :-|

  • Waste of a good engine!

  • TO BAD THOSE RETARDS WERNT RATCHET STRAPED TO THAT MOTOR

  • I hear tell the Navy used 8V71 in some of the swift boats, they ran them without governors. When they went they weren't worth rebuilding they'd pull 'em out, drop the old motor in the river and a new on in the hull

  • where was this at

  • garbage engines,best diesel make mercedes-benz,scania,volvo,tatra......cat,jd,toyota....

  • stupid

  • nothing to worry about that detroit was no good to begin with my 6-71 went run away for 10 min befor it could be stoped and no damage was done by the way no governor cat stop a detroit it will just run on its own sump oil

  • @kenfo0 I was thinking of the exact same thing. If I where there I would get the heck away from that motor and behind some barrier.
