(July 20)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] [Notes:benedict getting in to holy-copter]Pope Benedict took to the air Sunday, checking out the scene of World Youth Day in "the holy-copter." [Notes:popemobile on track] Then landed at a horse track and rode through the crowd in his popemobile before saying Mass. [Notes:Benedict kissing tot]He even stopped once to kiss a toddler on the head. More than 300,000 young pilgrims attended the event in Sydney, Australia. Pope Benedict is urging the young to reject greed and materialism.SOT: "A new age in which hope liberates us from the shallowness, apathy and self-absorption which deaden our souls and poison our relationships."He is also urging young people to work for renewal.SOT: "In so many of our societies, side by side with material prosperity, a spiritual desert is spreading: an interior emptiness, an unnamed fear, a quiet sense of despair." [Notes:cutaway] He wrapped up his comments with an invitation and an announcement that thrilled the crowds.SOT: "I look forward to seeing you again in three years' time.
