As we travel west we stopped for a few days in Isisford to fish on the mighty Barcoo River and visit family. Isisford is situated 100km south of Longreach in far west Queensland.
Jayson's family were one of the first people to settle this area in the mid 1800's. The Barcoo River was discovered by Major Mitchell in the early 1800's and described as a
good permanent water source for the west. This is sheep and cattle country but it is well known for the big fish caught in the Barcoo. Yellow Belly provide fishing enjoyment for travelers and locals who come from far and wide to experience this magic river.
