Sgt 1st Class Mark A. Wanner, was awarded the Silver Star for heroism under fire in Afghanistan on May 31, 2009. Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland presented the Silver Star, the nations third- highest medal for valor, during a ceremony Feb. 6, 2010 in the Ohio Statehouse atrium.
Wanner is a Special Forces Soldier (Green Berets) assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Ohio Army National Guard. He is a former member of the North Dakota Army National Guard and a resident of Bowman, N.D. We have posted this video in recognition of his heroism and service to our Nation.

This young man lived in my hometown of Bowman, ND!! All of us who know Mark are not surprised by this! He is an awesome young man!!
