So you've just gotten a new Prius and want to learn how to maximize the car's fuel efficiency? Some Prius owners have become Jedi level masters of Prius fuel efficiency, and these “hyper milers” use a few tried and true methods to get their MPGs up in the 50s, 60s, or even 70s, while one infamous Prius driver has even gotten the car to achieve an outrageous 100 miles per gallon. So how do they do it? Well, if you really want to get those big MPG numbers, you're going to have to give up your led footed ways. When accelerating, do it gradually, gently lifting your foot from the pedal as you drive. You can gently reapply pressure to the pedal if you need to accelerate more or begin to lose speed, but avoid mashing the pedal down if you want to achieve maximum mileage. Once you reach a desired speed, try and “glide” at that speed without accelerating as much as you can.... if you are going downhill, coast as much as you can and you will get better mileage. Also, try to not turn the engine on and off... short trips from cold stops will reduce your MPGs. If you are stopping for just a few moments, leave the car idling if you are confident it won't get stolen. The Prius is the rare car th

  • A vacuous report in deed. It is 85% fluff and sex. Sorry, we need content! People assume that people drive cars as fashion statements about themselves. Prius drivers are mainly old retired people who are on fixed-income and trying to save a few dollars. That's the anti-fashion statement.

  • AHH! The plural of mpg is mpg, not MPGs!!

MPGs = "Miles Per Gallons", which does not make sense.

  • *bows* You wanna do the even smarter thing now? Buy a Diesel econobox like a Jetta.

  • It isn't considered that when a company like Burger King has a hand made gourmet burger slathered in vasaline so it looks juicy in front of a camera for an advertisement. Nor is it false advertising when a cereal commercial uses glue to mix with their cereal for the shots they need.

What they all said about the Prius is very true. And that's why IMHO that hybrids are the worst way to get those uber high MPGs everyone wants. And it PISSES prius owners off wen you start talking about the batts.

  • @SpecialKLSX

At last, I find someone who understands the nonsense of these hybrid cars, why more people don't realise that the Prius is actually useless out of town confuses me...

    Thanks

  • Truth hurting you prius owners?

Yea, the Prius has the worst environmental footprint initially. So do the smart thing and buy a old econobox like a mid to early 90s civic instead! 40mpg and no hybrid tech to give you fits in 3 years is always a pluss.

  • is it considered false advertising or just poor quality when you use pictures that either aren't the prius (you show several artist renderings, concept cars, etc) or are a prius modified (such as when talking about 30 lbs of nickel while showing a modified plug-in prius that has added several batteries?

    just curious.
