On תשעה באב - Tisha beAv the might of the Roman empire fell on the בית המקדש - Beit haMikdash, the Holy Temple (the second temple). It was the end of a long and bloody war in which the Romans crushed Jewish resistance mercilessly.
This is a dramatization of these events. It is based on the writings of the Jew accompanying the Romans - the historian Joseph ben Mattityahu, a.k.a. Josephus Flavius, without whom we wouldn't know half as much about this period in our history.

  • Articzoo, that's horrible, wishing a horrendous tragedy that has befallen us to befall someone else. the case of an enemy, the Talmud teaches us to not pray for their destruction, but for them to realize the error of their ways and repent.

Let us pray for the establishment of brotherly love between the children of Ishmael and the children of Isaac. Maybe, when all of haShem's children are at peace, The Almighty will see fit to send us redemption and rebuild the Beit haMikdash.

  • It took the Romans 80.000 men to beat 23.000 Jews. If there's a next time we will nuke them before they leave their ports.

  • I totally agree. The Roman empire was cruel and blood-thirsty and we should be careful to not regress to that culture and mentality ever again.

  • Cool Video. Beware though, Rome will rear its' ugly head once again.

  • Yeah, I don't trust the new pope any farther than I can throw him. ;-)
