High winds unexpectedly kicked up during a mass parachute jump of the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers Unit causing some paratroopers to be unable to control their landings. The paratroopers were performing the jump in honor of the 49th annual Airborne Division convention being held in Salt Lake City, Utah. At least 35 members were injured, 2 seriously.

  • @asuwish0000 That's just the way I felt. I was in an Airborne Combat Engineer unit and we got a 'cherry' just out of Basic, AIT and Jump school. He couldn't pass a PT test. They gave him a waiver out of BASIC TRAINING!!!!! I NEVER HEARD OF THAT IN MY F***ING LIFE!!!!! Needless to say we got rid of his ass with a quickness but the point is, he should have NEVER made it that far. I knew it was time for me to get the hell out. I was in Iraq during Desert Storm so I got combat time.

  • whats the top wind speed? after 15 it gets kinda dangerourse

  • High winds on the DZ!! :D

  • at least no chutes failed.

  • @82ndDovi As usual JM will look at you and give you the signal with his hand " Winds 5 Knots" LOL

  • Have these guys heard of PLF's DAMN dude... WTF

  • Wow it went up a hell of a lot since I got out in mid 2002. I have also heard that new infantry recruits run around Benning with camelbacks - even during PT, they each were "issued" a beret instead of earning one through blood, sweat and tears (thank God that's over) and they are issued m-4's with ACOG scopes and body armor that actually stops bullets. Not to mention gays can now serve openly. My have things changed. Looks like I got out just in time :)

  • @asuwish0000 Um it's $150 a month not $10...

  • @cadetleader It was the wind you knob-end. Did you expect them to blow real hard in the opposite direction?
