R.I.P. Billy Taylor, and as WKCR brilliantly said "our jazz universe has just become exponentially smaller with the passing of Billy Taylor."
His memorial is being held in at Riverside Church in Harlem, NYC on January 10th. Hope he continues to play those ivories and ebonies wherever he might be.

This is amazing. I have a lot of Billy Taylor's CD's but can't find too many solo piano works. Is there any CD recordings from Jazz Counterpoint?

What a great beauty there is in his playin... especially those micro conversations inside the structure, always coming up right through the constant flow. Billy speaking... I love that.

The wonderful and eloquent Dr Billy Taylor playing a bluesy Willow Weep For Me,Tommy Flanagan looking on,a mutal admiration society. Their facial expression while playing for each other is priceless.Thank You so much for posting.P.S. I had Dr Taylor PBS Program on VHS years ago I never thought I would ever see this program again it's a treasure.
