You will need Tekkub's super awesome Tourguide addon.
A lot of folks tell me that farming is more profitable, but on my server, everything that -can- be farmed -is- farmed. The mobs are always dead and the prices on the auction house go rock-bottom.
This is the fastest way I've found to reliably make gold. Plus -- it's more fun than killing the same thing for an hour.
This sequence generates a reliable 400 gold cash without using the auction house at all. It also generates 1-3 greens and a bunch of frostweave. As a rogue I also pickpocket a few runic potions.

@wsvap Yes, although I editted the guide to remove the quests that no longer exist and replace them with ones that do. You can still do it in under an hour if you're quick and lucky, but most folks take around 1hr 15min.

@AznMs you need to have done pretty much all icecrown quests for that. i would give you some links, but i get errors when i try to do so.

These days obviously you can't jack any lumber, and if you're already a champion of all the factions, you can't do the valiant dailies. What I'm gonna try is 1 hot and cold 2 blowing hodir's horn 3 polishing the helm 4&5 feeding angrim and spy hunter 6-14 same 15 taking the battle to the enemy 16 static shock troops: the bombardment 17 putting the hertz: valley of lost hope 18-21 same 22 leave our mark 23 intelligence gathering 24 no fly zone 25 from their corpses, rise.
