PART 2: This two-part presentation was given at the 18th National Government Ethics Conference by Anna Galindo-Marone and Ericka Hamrick from the Office of Special Counsel. It reviews the Hatch Act, which regulates the participation of federal employees in partisan politics, by providing recent case updates and trends, as well as best practices regarding the political activity of Presidential appointees with Senate confirmation. In addition, this session highlights the intersection between the Hatch Act and social media. Lastly, guidance is provided on how agencies can promote a non-partisan work environment in the upcoming year and beyond.
