I live in Massachusetts now, my father is from Pico and we go every summer. Its amazing. I did the climb when i was about 16 with my aunt, brother and a few other family members. We left at like midnight so we could see the sun rise when we were at the top. And its an image burned in my head. The most amazing thing i've ever seen.

Just heads up, climbing up the paths of Pico may seem easy and it is, but you should not go up without a local guild. It can become very dangerous if you leave the path or if a fog comes in, you can find yourself in big trouble. I have been up there three times. Also the rocks are volcanic rock and very lose and unstable and extreme caution should be used.

awesome climb! i went about 3 years ago because my parents are from Pico. We left at like 11 o'clock at night with flashlights so when we got to the top we saw the sunrise over Faial and Sao Jorge.
Where is Pico Azores?

Pico is one of nine Azores Islands in the Atlantic Ocean west of Portugal. My parents grew up on the Island next to Pico called Sao Jorge.
