RNC Protesters Tried on Terrorism Charges Despite Acknowledgment They Didn't Commit Alleged Acts

Last September in St. Paul, Ramsey County prosecutors formally charged eight members of the group RNC Welcoming Committee with conspiracy to riot in furtherance of terrorism. The criminal complaints reportedly do not allege that any of the defendants personally engaged in any act of violence or damage to property. Instead, authorities are seeking to hold them responsible for acts committed by other individuals during the RNCs opening days. We speak to one of the defendants, Luce Guillen-Givins, and RNC 8 Attorney Jordan Kushner. [includes rush transcript]

  • Obama signed the patriot act 2

Your still being wire tapped and your ip is still being monitored

  • Terrorism is a hoax word., because anyone can be charged with it. *Not just Al-Qaeda)- anyone can be a extremist even a US citizen.

If you offend the people in power of their political views and religious views enough, they will throw you in jail.

Terrorism is a focused on the fear of people, and what do people ask when they are scared? More protection, more surveillance, more police patrolling the streets. Total deception that is being manipulated out of fear of the citizens.

  • Well, it's true.

    <some racist thing here>

  • Evil tyrant is another buzz word. Saddam was a bad guy but so are many other world leaders, if we interefered with them all it would tax us and possibly make their countries worse.

I dont consider Israel a real US ally, they've done nothing but taken weapons and aid but given nothing in return We've caught more Israeli spies in our government than any other country

Read They Dare to Speak Out by Republican congressman Paul Findley I agree there is no conspiracy, it's all out in the open

  • There are real issues this country is facing and you guys are living in a dream world.

  • I think it is great what we've done for Iraq. We removed an evil tyrant who was tourturing his own people. We have given the people of Iraq freedom.

Another reason that it is good we are there is that we can back up Israel if they are attacked as they are our ally. There's no evil conspiracy here. Sadam was giving UN weapons inspectors the run around and we warned him. He refused to co-operate so we removed him. Have fun with your little stories. I'm out.

  • You apparently do not care about the ROOT of the conflicts in the Middle East. You are only concerned with Wwinning elections. I maintain that the country of Iraq was NEVER a threat to the United States of America, and we recieved no oil discounts from dropping the bombs.

  • It would have helped Republicans hugely if Bush staged the finding of WMD's. Obama became the frontrunner because of his opposition to the war.

Dude, honestly, see a psychologist. All this stuff you are spewing is complete nonsense. Peace.

  • He didn't need to. With the fall of the towers(the new pearl harbor), people were just anxious enough to be bamboozled into this war for ISRAEL in Iraq.

If you look back even into the late 90's Israel has been pushing the United States into a conflict with Iraq. Israel considered Hussein to be a threat to their nation, America did not.

  • Yeah, thanks, I am aware of your premise.

You didn't answer my question. Why didn't Bush lie to us and stage the finding of WMDs?

  • In order to unleash their foreign campaigns without upsetting the TRADITIONAL wing of the conservative GOP -- which was more opposed to expanding the role of the federal government, more opposed to military adventurism abroad -- they needed a context. The events of 9/11 rode to their rescue. (In 2000, PNAC noted: "the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor."
