I knew him as David Jones, just an ordinary guy who was a horseman, and a guy who cared about his community. That's who he was in real life. Once he hit the stage the personality would come "on" even at the local bar, where he was sometimes prodded to sing. We met exactly a week before his death to discuss some horses he had in training at Payson Park. His death came as a shock to us all. He'll be missed and our hearts go out to his beloved wive, Jessica.
