@gracemcraftlvr He's too much like his big brother. You show that the "music/stories", know no bounds.

@gracemcraftlvr I first heard this song when I was younger than you (I'm 30 now). I loved it then and still do now. I have seen Tom in concert at the Walnut Valley Festival and he was one of the main reasons I kept going...until the tickets became too costly.

I saw him sing this live, he messed up and switched the second and third verses, and left out every instance of the word "dad" and "son"

a GREAT TRIBUTE to his brother

@gracemcraftlvr It's nice to know that this future generation will have musical tastes that aren't all about grinding pelvises and getting trashed. I'm in my mid-20's and people look at me weird for enjoying classic rock. Who cares what others like? It's YOUR taste!

@gracemcraftlvr I am turning 13 and i love harry chapin and folk rock because of the meaning it brings. My friends are all the same.
"Ew, you like old guys, how can you listen to this crap. Dont you know rap and pop?"
I know rap and pop and it is untalented and meaningless compared to this. Harry is a beautiful person, better than these unexperienced dumbfounded underage pop stars that they call 'good'. Why is the good so ignored in this world?
-
Sung and played very well! Personally I like Harry's version more, the way he starts off sentences in a hush quiet voice then strengthens towards the end.
Overall though superb.
gracemcraftlvr - never let your friends opinion influence you or your taste in music. Be yourself ! your appreciation of Chapin music is a good thing. Harry was a tremendous talent, Tom is a wonderful folk song artist. And the causes they support are important

In my late teens and early 20's I was a huge fan of Harry Chapin and knew all the words to all the songs on his dozen albums. When you are older you should check out "Verities & Bulderdash" you'll love it. Tom Chapin has a lot of CD's with some great songs for kids your age.
Cheers
