It's far from perfect, but today I got Leader to do his fist passes of Piaffe! I'm very proud of him, he hadn't worked for a long time but really paid attention. It's a bit of a boring movie to watch. After I had installed the camera, I kind of forgot where it was... Nevertheless, enjoy! (And remember: ALWAYS reward your horse! In 99% of all cases, he does exactly what you're asking...)

The p-rrrrr sound is used throughout Europe (mostly Germany) to tell a horse to whoa. It is really effective - this sound is so distinctive, the horses do not confuse it with other noices a rider makes.

  • That's great for starters!!! what a gorgeous horse!!! What breed is he? 5*!!

  • I have to ask, what does the prrrrrrrrrrr sound mean? I realize you use it to communicate with him, but I can't tell if you are using it sporadically or when he is doing something good or bad?

  • You are doing a great job well done and good luck!

  • he's really trying, what a stunning horse!

  • awesome job, really good piaffe and stunning horse. but check out the shank on that bit :O

  • good job hes gorgeous.

  • Good job, Josefien!

You quite rightly are proud of him, because he was really good with his first attempt for piaffe.

But you also were good and patient enough to be a good trainer.

After some misunderstandings and a rear at 3:57 there was an excellent period of piaffe from 4:10 - 4:17.

He definitively earned a big reward after that hard work!

There is still a long way to perfection - but he had a promising start!

Give my congratulation to him - and an extra carrot.

Good luck for both of you.
