Band: Bohemian
Song: Meghla Din (Cloudy Day)
Album: Shurjo
Language: Bangla / Bengali
Country of origin: Bangladesh

"Bohemian" was born in January 2008. Shams Bin Quader and Mahbub Farhan were long time neighbours in Uttara, but coming together to form a band came much later, when Shams was working as a faculty of IUB, and Farhan a student of this university. We needed a vocalist/bass guitar player, and so we found Farshid Alam, who was also studying at IUB at that time. Finally, we met up with a talented drumm...er by the name of Rafatul Bari Labib, and thus Bohemian was complete.

Bohemian was formed with the intention of creating an unique brand of rock music in Bangladesh, one which is melodious enough for the mass audience to relate to, and one which is also and rocking and funky enough for the underground fans to jump and move to. From our early compositions, till our present ventures, we have always tried to be creative and experimental, and we improvised a lot to create our own sound within the genre of Rock.

Our friend Mahbub Lemon, came up with the name "Bohemian", as initially our first compositions and lyrics reflected this lifestyle.

So Bohemian's first album called Babodhan, was released on the 28th of July, 2008 from Fahim Music and we are currently working on our second album, due to be released in mid 2010.

Our genre and influences:
The genre of Bohemian's music can be loosely tagged as Alternative Rock, although our main focus is always on melody and meaningful lyrics. Our lyrics are based on themes and experiences we shared in life, both home and abroad.

Our influences include: U2, Coldplay, Police, Breaking Benjamin, Incubus, Kings of Leon, Guns N Roses, Goo Goo Dolls, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Porcupine Tree.

Our shows/gigs:
We typically perform our own tracks in concerts, along with some diverse covers from artists like U2, Police, Incubus, Lifehouse, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Poets of the Fall, Oasis, Vertical Horizon etc.

We have already performed many times in venues like Decagon Café, RCC, Fantasy Kingdom, Foy's Lake (Chittagong), IUB campus, NSU Campus, All Community Club, D Pavement, D Boulevard, ISD School, CGS School, Regency, Radisson, Bangladesh-China Friendship Center, Cuppa Coffee Club, Fu-wang Bowling Club etc. and in private parties at Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Baridhara and Uttara.

Media Coverage and albums released:
Bohemian's interviews came on many renowned newspapers and magazines like Daily Prothom Alo, The Daily Star Weekend Magazine, Rising Stars, Probe, The Independent, Amar Desh, Daily Jugantor etc. Our song "Dejavu", "Lyra" and "Cholo Cholo", along with some other tracks, enjoyed extensive airplay at Radio Foorti, Radio Amar, Radio ABC and Radio Today for long periods of time. Our music videos were also broadcasted on music programmes in TV channels like ATN, NTV, RTV and Channel I.

We have our debut album out in the market called Babodhan, and we have three singles out in three mixed albums namely B-Rock, Mixed Tape and Rock 303.

Final words:
To conclude, whether or not you like our band's music is completely up to you. We are here today, and we will continue to be here through all the struggles and hardships, and try our best to win over your respect. At the end of the day, we want the audience, or at least a part of the audience to enjoy our music -- if we are successful in doing that, we shall consider that a huge achievement. We will continue experimenting with our compositions, perform live in as many gigs as possible, make new tracks -- but we really need your support. And I believe you will give us the support, if you think we truly deserve it. Enjoy Bohemian's music and ROCK ON!
