@loopylawrence If you listen a Hazmat was not dispatched, its not a Physical visable gas leek, its only readable on a Meter, the Fire Department just responds incase the gas is ignited and to evacuate people and give medical treatment. The ladder was dispatched because its in a Tall building. And the engine put water on the fire.

@fighting17chicago That may be why they kept it, but it originated with the first Fire Commisioner.

@loopylawrence LOL ya well the video is only 1:40 long so he was a little quicker than 5 minutes. Besides he looks like he has been on the job for 20 to 30 years. You don't get as excited as you used too or move as fast in the old days. I have been on the job going on 30 years volunteer and paid I don't get in as much of a hurry as I used too either.

@LordWormx420x are you sure on that for the chicago trucks? I thought it was more of a traditional thing with the green lights. Do you work for the cfd?
-
@CSILCPD the green light means that there is an emt or a medic on board the truck.

awesome video nice view

@CSILCPD A supposed study was done by Chicago Fire which found that Color Blind individuals can recognize the green filtered light better than any color or white. It was supposed to help with visual acuity for the Color Blind while driving.

I drove the Wagon for 17 years and there isn't anyone in this vieo that would have caught my piece. I would have left them all in the house.

@shfrfghtr I can get my bunker pants and coat on in 30 second add an SCBA all together is about 1 minute.

If they need life flight the green light is easy to see at night....at least that is what ive been told
for what does the green light on the fire trucks stand for?
i´ve seen it only at the chicago fd units

i never heard about them being for fog, i do know back in the day and old commissioner had a nautical background and he started the red/green deal on all apparatus and fire houses.

Why the heck dont they respond faster. UK firefightrs are up and out straight away. That bloke seems to take 5 minutes to put trousers on. lol

Isnt in the UK the "trousers" one piece? In the us there are 2pieces, so it may take a little bit longer, it only took these guys 1 min to get out... how fast do these guys need to go?
