Did kids in the 90s really want to play as Thunderstrike and Black Knight instead of Thor and Ironman... Come on, 90s, I try and stick up for you, but you're killing me here!
@VideoQuestEx One Must Fall: 2097 was also the first fighter to include online multiplayer.
Some of the reasons why KI is very popular (or should I say appreciated or praised more) is the music, 3D-rendered graphics they saw in Donkey Kong Country, and the combo system.
Unico Electronics, the company behind "Legend of Silkroad", was Konami's Korean distributor that later became Uniana and finally, Konami Korea.
I wish the Avengers in Galactic Storm roster was accurately converted to MUGEN.
@VideoQuestEx For the 3D-rendered graphics, some people compare it to Killer Instinct, but Killer Instinct wasn't the first to have this kind of graphics. It was either Rise of the Robots (1994) or One Must Fall: 2097 (1993 in beta form; 1994 and 1995 in updated full forms).
Interesting to note that SNK was trying to implement a crude assist feature, since it's early "King of Fighters" games (starting from 1994 to 1998, I think)
When your character was dizzy, you could mash on the buttons to call out one of your surviving team-mates in the background to attack your foe, to you buy you time to recover.
No, it's not the same as a full assist during actual combat, but it was a kind of fast "dizzy recovery assist."
@VideoQuestEx Avengers in Galactic Storm being the first to feature assistant characters commonly referred to as "helpers" or by the KOF trademark name "Strikers" was its merit, and that's why it doesn't deserve to be forgotten.

@MHMemeDoubleYourFun:
Yeah, all those games that started using 3D rendered visuals kinda all came out at the same time for the home consoles in the mid 1990s.
Killer Instinct probably was the title that became the most popular over time.
In 1999, there was another 3D side-scroller named "Legend of SilkRoad" by Unicom. It had a similar visual style.
I still like the visual of "Avengers in Galactic Storm." It gave the title a different look from the 2D fighters at the time.

Nice to see someone using Black Knight. I've always wondered how this title would look like in motion.
Seems Capcom's 'Versus' series eclipsed this fighter from 'Data East' back in the 1990s.
Still a cool vid! Thanks for sharing!
