From the movie Song Of Norway (1970), about the life and music of the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.
In this scene Edvard (Toralv Maurstad) and Nina, his wife (Florence Henderson), visit the writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (Harry Secombe) at his farm Aulestad to celebrate Christmas. He welcomes them by singing a toast (to the melody of one of Grieg's most beautiful love songs; The First Meeting)
AT CHRISTMASTIME
At Christmas time, at Christmastime,
Kris Kringle is on hand;
And were you good,
Kris Kringle would comply with your demand.
But were you bad,
Kris Kringle down your chimney would not climb,
It's plain to see,
the thing to be is good at Christmastime.
At Christmastime,
the mistletoe hangs high above the door,
And many maidens there have kissed,
who ne'er have kissed before.
At Christmastime,
a kiss needs neither reasoning nor rhyme -
For love, itself, was born
upon the morn of Christmastime
For love, itself, was born
upon the morn of Christmas time.
At Christmastime, at Christmastime,
The house is all aglow
With children's cries, and eager eyes
And windows framed in snow.
The loved ones fill your heart and home
With warmth at Christmas time
I just dug my VHS of Song of Norway out and watched it today and decided to check if any of the songs were here on YouTube. Thanks for posting this and the others. This was not a great movie, but the music and scenery are fantastic.
