New hire, Carl Bruch, at Hendrickson Flying Service, puts an aerial application helicopter through its paces.
After a day of videoing rail traffic around the Rochelle area I was on my way home. Driving east on Rt 38 along the Union Pacific tracks I spied this small helicopter working east and west along a field. I assumed it was a tune up of some sort since the "dusting" season hasn't kicked off yet around this area. I pulled onto a side road to get a better view and then set up the camera.
Carl eventually spies me and puts on a bit of a show. Bringing the helicopter closer to my location before pulling up and around. After he landed and shut down, I went over and introduced myself.
My new Manfrotto tripod and fluid head made this so much easier. And this helicopter is two-bladed. Apparently my video camera likes to add a few more blades.
