1993 was a good year for the 125cc class in national motocross. This was the last year of the 500cc national championships. So, that meant that all of the guys riding the 250cc championship on Yamahas and Suzukis switched over to the 125s for the last half of the season.

Probably my favorite rider of all time, Damon Bradshaw, was one such rider. Unfortunately, the beast from the east must have been looking forward to the end of the season....and the end of his career as he made one last effort aboard the 125. He was still hauling ass though.

I have two favorite scenes: The opening scene at the end of the whoops and the raw footage of Emig and crew flying up the uphill. Wait, I also liked the shots of the riders trying to triple out of the 5 jump combo after the steeple jump. I can't remember what that combo is called. I think 1993 was the first year that it was built.

Mr. Davy captured some pretty good footage at the 1993 Washougal National. I did my best to capture the sights and the sounds of the extinct little 125cc motocrossers.

  • Awesome song choice! Hank III !

  • Thanks! Hank III pretty much kicks ass in my book....as you can tell.

I saw him play in Seattle a few years back. Awesome show.

  • Ok.. anyone remember the SX race * I believe it was in North Carolina * main event.. Bradshaw got stuck in the gate at the start and by the time he got lose, he was last and waaay behind.. He ended up finishing second.. and if there was a 1/2 lap more to go he would have pulled it off.. man that dude was nuts... win or crash attitude... gotta love it

  • I think I know what you are talking about. In 1991 at the San Jose supercross Bradshaw got stuck in the gate and had to come from last place. With one lap to go Guy Cooper looked like he would have his first supercross win in the bag, but Jeff Matiasevich took them both out while he was trying to black pass for the lead. Doug Dubach then took over the lead and Bradshaw moved into second place and was closing fast on Dubach. Bradshaw only came up a few bike lengths short of victory.

  • Nothing in the MX world sounds as good as a factory tuned 125cc two stroke motor. Nothing! I miss hearing them out there in the Nats.

  • love the vid... delete the music... 125s sing well enough they dont need help!

    False !

Bayle at the at the end of 1991 after his tiltles said.

"I want a moto GP bike ", during 1992 he trained to road racing too.

Honda didn't want to give him a 250 nsr. He had an Aprilla during 1993

He never won a road racing but made 1 pole on 250 and 2 pole on 500 (vs biaggi , dohan...)

In fact he was already gone in 1992 in his head

Bayle always beated MC Grath during 1992 , in 250 SX.

Bayle and MC Grath were "friends"

  • thank fuck for the mute button

  • yea, 4:00 sounds so good, I had to type this comment with one hand...

  • bradshaw took one look at mcgrath in 93 when he moved up to 250s and saw the writing on the wall. retired at 20 years old. jean michelle bayle, same thing, bailed to europe to ride road bikes.

  • wow this is cool as hell to watch cuz u recorded this in the 90's

  • the best part of this video is when dumbass stays away from the music overdub. You just don't get it man. The music...the appreciation..... is the motor..... not your sorry ass attempt of playing redneck DJ. Great vid though...truly awesome...when i was past jamming pencils in my ears to avoid a neurotic meltdown.

  • would these be 93 or 94 model year bikes?

  • Wow,strong field

    Nice Vid !

  • how did they fix that stabalization problem at the beginning? they fixed the poor camera mans shaking, i guess with software, nice. and the sound of those bikes is SICK!!!!!!!!!! dam I miss those old 2 smokes.

  • Pinned at 4:00 :-) These were the days hehe 2-stroke heaven! I can just imagine the smell as well.... ahhh
