"Harden My Heart" is the most popular single by the pop group Quarterflash, off their Quarterflash album, released in 1981. It became a Top 5 pop hit, reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the top of the Mainstream Rock Chart. It was the group's only Top 10 single on the Hot 100, although their second single did reach the Top 20.

Quarterflash is a rock group formed in Portland, Oregon, USA, in 1980. The band was made up of lead singer and saxophonist Rindy Ross, her husband guitarist Marv Ross, guitarist Jack Charles, keyboardist Rick DiGiallonardo, bassist Rich Gooch and drummer Brian David Willis.

The group was formed by merging two popular Oregon bands Seafood Mama and Pilot.[1][2] They originally released the single "Harden My Heart" in Spring 1980. It was a big hit on Portland radio stations, and got them a one hour TV special Seafood Mama In Concert on KOIN June 5, 1980 at 10:00 PM which was also simulcast on KQIV. "Harden My Heart" would later be rerecorded as Quarterflash.

The band signed to Geffen Records and released their self-titled debut album Quarterflash in 1981 reaching #8 on Billboard's Top LPs & Tapes, selling over a million copies, RIAA gold certification on February 5, 1982 and platinum status on June 29, 1982. The album spawned their biggest single hits with Harden My Heart, which reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (also reaching the Top 20 in France) and their follow up "Find Another Fool" which hit #16. A second one hour Portland television special Quarterflash In Concert was broadcast on KOIN October 22, 1981 at 7:00 PM and simulcast on KGON. This concert was taped at the Paramount Theater on October 15, 1981.

Quarterflash released their second album Take Another Picture in 1983 and hit #34 on Billboard plus scoring the single hit Take Me to Heart, which reached #14. This album was not as commercially successful as their first. The group released their final album Back Into Blue in 1985, which peaked at #150 on Billboard. They later disbanded after getting dropped from their record label.

Five years later in 1990, Quarterflash reunited, hiring session musicians Sandin Wilson, bassist/vocalist, drummer Greg Williams, guitarist Doug Fraser, and Mel Kubik on saxophone and keyboards and released Girl In the Wind on Epic Records. Rindy and Marv Ross are now in the popular regional band The Trail Band.
