SOAR Porteau Cove Squamish Yacht Race

The annual race from Porteau Cove to Squamish takes place right in the heart of the windy season in Howe Sound. Squamish apparently means "Mother of the Wind" in Coast Salish and is a well-known windsurfing and kiting hotspot. This day it was blowing 25 to 35 knots.

Was that the boat that took line honours? I realized my mistake while editing. I couldn't tell the two pink spinnakers apart at the time. How did Red Heather get that initial rip in the chute?

Red Heather got a small tear at the top. I had a camera on board so if you go to the Squamish Yacht Club site (Youtube will not allow links) and watch my video you will see it start to go with a small square out of it. They decided to run the kite in with the tear and of course it didn't make it LOL.

Glad you got that footage. I was aboard the Zodiac and we came to about where you were. We could not get back to the action without getting soaked so I missed some of it!
