These lyrics speak to me in a very personal way, because I've been told that I overthink everything too much, which I believe to be true. But they also remind of other lyrics from Pearl Jam 'Present Tense' "stop re-digesting past regrets / it makes much more sense to live in the present tense".
So many events happen in our lives that it's impossible for it to not be filled with regrets, sadness, and defeat. But along the way, we have to own up to it, and grow stronger for the next time.
I've realized that life is so packed, that we sometimes miss out on all it's beauty. I wanted to capture that sound with this piece. I want the violins to scream 'rolling in the deep' and I wanted to flutes to echo the softness of Adele's voice. This piece is more than just about losing a loved one, it's about looking back on something that could have looked forward in such happiness. But there's happiness there, because life is a prayer, and we have to always let ourselves go and be vulnerable. For Orchestra is a testament to 'if it scares you, do it.' It's the only way to win.
I enjoy this song very much. Perhaps the thing to think about this piece that strikes me the most though, is not that we almost had it all, but rather that if we work hard enough and keep our head up high, then we can.
