call me stupid, but why the hell would you practice a wheelie so close to the center yellow lines? can't even begin to imagine if a car clipped you..

Wear some proper protection you noob head, If you come off doing a wheelie your ankles are going to get shredded.

@RogerTHEAlien0 i dont really try to power wheelie in second... i try clutch ups in second but im not getting the bike up...
i dont really wanna be powering second since my first gear already goes to about 76mph thats faster than the speed limit on the freeway.... if i was powering second id be going about 112 before i ran out of the gear... i would like to be able to get to my balance point much faster and at a slower speed than going 60+ mph... thanks for the reply though... and yes -1front

@929crotchrocket come on dude .. a 929rr will have no problem power wheeling in 2nd .. Grip the throttle give it a little yank on the bars and it will pop right off the ground .. And you say you went -1 front sprocket? ..
-
@hil242s hey bro have you had any luck clutching it up in 2nd. I have a 929rr i power wheelie in first but i cant seem to clutch up in 2nd either, i keep practicing but it just seems like im burning the clutch
if so about what speed can you lift in second cuz i cant lift in first till 15-20mph... bike wont idle under 11mph... my bike is tuned i have -1 front gear so it should help lift in second but no dice
im just tired of doing a power wheelie and never get to BP. i top out first around 76mph

@hil242s sorry... ran out of room on my other comment. here's the rest:
if the cable/lever has a little play and the clutch still feels like it's slipping then you should have it replaced (if you're really intent on second gear wheelies) or just ride it 'til it goes out (if you're NOT intent on second gear wheelies).
other than that, check that you're clutching/revving high enough to pull the bike up. try closer to 5500 or 6000 to clutch and 10k to release clutch. be careful, though!

@hil242s i've run into this a few times as a mechanic. the first thing you should do is check (or have someone else if you can't) that the clutch cable isn't over tightened. sometimes a dealership mechanic will tighten the clutch cable so that there isn't any free-play in the lever (which can cause noobs/first time buyers to back out of a deal 'cause they don't know any better). this also happens often on used bikes for the same reason. loosen the cable just enough that there's a little play.

660 maniac doesn't own a bike obviously, you have to second gear clutch up a 02-03 r1 with stock gears. I find around 5000-5500 rpm's i can clutch it up nicely you dont need the clutch all the way engaged just slip it for a sec pull the clutch lever half way in with your index finger and push down on the front then pull up when your letting go of the clutch to rebound the suspension it takes alot of practice and your clutch should be fine.

on this bike 2nd doesnt really need clutching(although clutching looks and sounds cooler), it comes up on its own with a quick open of the gas...clutching is for 3rd gear wheelies
I can't seem to clutch up 2nd gear. How do you do it on yours? speed? rpms? I have a feeling that I may need a new clutch. I'll slip the clutch in 2nd around 35-45 mph, up to about 8000 or 9000 rpm, and the clutch doesn't seem to grab. It just seems to slip and stay around 6000 until I let off the throttle a bit. Hmm... Thoughts?
