New project - Scratch built on a balsa frame with 0.8mm ply. Wood glue and varnish. 18" long, 5" beam, Graupner 400 7.2v 18,000 rpm motor 15amp speedo No plans or drawings. Just hope it floats !! - After this clip I've reduced the prop andgle and swapped to an all metal gear set. Just running the gears in now.

  • Beautiful! I love that gear drive! What wood did you use on the exterior of the hull? It looks great! Reminds me of lobster boat hull. It should move pretty good and be ultra stable. I need to have you around when MY boats die, you could drag me bag in : )

  • Cheers, Yeah the gear set gives perfect alignment. Got it from an RC aeroplane. The hull is thin 3 ply 1/32" (0.8mm) !!! It's brilliant to work with, you can curl it round corners. A bit of balsa inside to give it strength and a dab of varnish. Watched your boat clips, you don't need a recovery vessel, just launch your fleet :-)
