@fasolplanetarium yep.

@jawbraeka nope. almost everything is digital now. but you can still use his asterisk server to run in a simulation.
-
would these still work today?
-
I still have mine somewhere around here. Is the project still up?

The switches needed are indeed available for a perfect reproduction.
To do a perfect reproduction you will need the DPST momentary contact switches, Allen Bradly mini switches or Cherry switches, Switchcraft is not exactly the right size.
Cheat and use a 556 timer IC, much easier!
Use perf board for the resistors, and, yes, ear piece for a 500 set.
The box itself is correct but the original was a bud box.
4 AA NiCad cells will give 5 volts and is very stable as well as being perfect in size.

i miss phreaking in the 80's, what a rush. I love today's tech but the romance is just not there

Wow, thanks for posting this. Real telephony nostalgia here.

@PoryGoon Me too ... I placed a rather rowdy late night comment like: "Less talk!! more sound!!" :D

Less talking - more sound!
Please, the fact can be kept in between demonstrations, but this voice over thing is annoying.
Still interesting though ;)
I thought this was a replica of the MXR blue box, i was wondering what all of those knobs were for.
