A short project created by Poznań University of Technology (PUT) students during an internship at B&R Poznań - four stepper motors playing midi files. Files are being imported on the fly, what enables us to use an unlimited ammount of .mid files. The whole project took us two weeks to be done from scratch. Special thanks to B&R for the opportunity to use professional equipment and great support in overall.

Stepper motors "step" once every on/off. When they "step", they emit a clicking noise. Therefore, by changing the frequency of on/off signals, the clicking becomes a humming, and the faster you go, the higher pitched the clicking becomes. With this technique, its possible to make music out of any mechanical object that emits a noise while moving (i.e old drives, stepper motors, etc.)
