luckily I've learned to fly hanggliders - no worries about "rough"conditions + no worries about strong winds and flying backwards + much cooler looking wing + landings and takeoffs are finally exciting again!

my initial reaction is that I thought it strange that the pilot chose a forward launch in apparently windy thermally turbulent conditions. He never controlled the pendulum effect and the frontal collapse appeared to be avoidable.
I'm glad to hear that he's OK (if I got that correctly).

why people unable to fly always choose bassano to commit suicide??
My good how fed up we are withenssing those cene every week end on our take off!!!

he should not have started in this strong thermal conditions - but yes, nothing happend to him.
