@gentilguy Yes but it is a good general discipline to stay focused - rather like when driving a car to signal left or right even if no cars behind. It is just discipline. In OTB games I have often lost due to complacency when slightly winning for example.

what happens if at 16.23 white moves Rxh4+?, black cant capture with the bishop because of the mate at g7

@MrPazPax Some people don't mind making the same mistakes over and over again. Ive seen people play 10,000+ games on the ICC and still have a rating of 1200...

Analysing it a bit more it just seems killing. Defending the rook and preventing the queen from invading is impossible. 31...g3 leads to a quick mate and 31.Re4 allows 31...Ne3 and he has to give it up when Re6 leads to mate! :D

@phreddsfishpudding YES! Objectively exd may be better. but I like to play Qxd.

FWIW if you play the Winawer as black there is a delayed exchange move by white that can throw you into this Qxd line so you might as well learn it anyway.

@gentilguy I must say, the time you HAVE to calculate hard and carefully is when you are ahead in material and the opponent is NOT resigning. If the opponent is strong, he may have a counterplay or cheapo up his sleeves. Do not fall complacent when you are ahead for there is nothing worse than drawing or losing the endgame after winning the middle game.
