If you notice at 0:36 while your are going up you see your companion cube in the tubes behind. At the top you get the cube. Did anyone put the pieces together? Its burnt from when your threw it in the incinerator in Portal 1. You didn't kill your companion cube after all!

@Telixion you don't have to incinerate the companion cube you could just use another cube but, when you get to the grill at the end of the test it will just fry it.
