The Celebration Gospel Choir performing the song from Handel's Messiah, A Soulful Celebration. This is a cover song from the award-winning CD by Mervyn Warren (from Take Six) et al, a Black Music Version of the oratory of Georg Friedrich Handel from 1741. The Original CD featured many well known R&B artists like Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, Patti Austin, and many more, and won a Grammy in 1993. AFAIK, the Celebration Gospel Choir (http://www.celebration-choir.de) are the first to perform the whole work live. This is a Gospel version of the "Hallelujah" chorus everybody knows. The performance was filmed on Dec 13, 2008 at the Capitol in Mannheim, Germany. M.D. is Anne Westrich. This is an amateur video using the camera's microphone. Still, you get the idea. See http://www.celebration-choir.de for more about the singers. This happens to be the choir where Xavier Naidoo, German multi-platinum-selling recording artist, originated from.

  • I can never get tired of hearing of this song I love it! especially to hear different choirs sing

  • Fabulous!

  • @mail1atpianojoede -I think he is talking about this Version!

  • Wow...that's all i can say!

  • @thereisnophantom q had an all star choir. these people are singing for the sheer enjoyment of the music and their appreciation of the genius of q's arrangement. I hope they had a good time;they certainly seem to be enjoying themselves. imitation is music appreciation at its best.

OAN, i've heard whites mock 'black style 'singing; yet when they imitate 'black style' music, we mock them. ironic. the synthesis of african and european music sensibilities is what distinguishes american music.

  • @slickableandsoulful Are YOU serious? What difference does it make what year it is? Can Jesus be Messiah and not Messiah at the same time? Think! Not all beliefs that claim to be true are true. That is pretty much common sense, if you know what different religions teach.

  • @NHisMage

"false beliefs"? are you serious. what year is this 1200? sheesh

  • @thereisnophantom I agree with you.

  • They have done an excellent job, black, white and brown together. Just the way God likes it!!!
