Speaker Matthew Kelly tells a great story here of a pandemic that is sweeping the world. He then relates his story to Sunday mass. With so many people either not going to mass or going but feeling bored, I must ask you a simple question. What if it were your only son who gave his life for the sake of humanity?

I think in this day and age, many Catholics go to church because that is what they were taught they are supposed to do. But how many have actually taken the time to learn more about their faith and realize how the mass is heaven on Earth. Many come to church to be entertained. They have an attitude of "What can I get out of this" instead of "What can I give him." I don't care how boring you think mass is. We are there to praise him. When people stop thinking "me me me" and start thinking "he he he," I think they will find the mass to have a deeper meaning. Instead of looking at your watch and wondering when the priest will stop talking so you can go home, why not actually try paying attention to the readings and homily and participating in mass. Donate your time and talents and get involved in something with your church. Not only will you be helping others, but you will expand on your knowledge of the faith as well. And mass may no longer feel like an obligation, but something that you actually look forward to on Sunday.

Just remember, when you go to mass, even if the priest bores you to tears, or children are crying all around you, you will still receive grace because Christ is present on that alter. He radiates grace whether you catch on to it or not.

  • @badpanda84 its called testing faith...if people believed Noah and had faith in God then they would have gotten on...and since people didnt get on they already turned their backs to God which when dead would send you to hell so in reality God tested their faiths... which is what he does when you die anyway

  • @badpanda84 No, God wiped out the humanity that had totally turned its back on Him - they saw no need for Him, let alone His Mercy, and so they received His Justice. He was merciful to Noah's family for Noah's sake because Noah continued to worship God even while the rest of humanity ridiculed & sneered at his beliefs...

  • @QuoVadisAnima "He chose to repair the deadly damage of original sin in which Adam & Eve murdered "

Actually that wasnt his first plan -- he orginally tried to wipe out humanity in Noahs flood instead of repair the deadly damage of orginal sin..

  • @badpanda84

God is perfect Justice as well as perfect Mercy - He chose to repair the deadly damage of original sin in which Adam & Eve murdered God's life in their souls & thereby the souls of all their progeny as well, in addition to all those sins that followed in its wake, with an act that would match the offense - an eternal life for an eternity of life, so to speak - as well as illustrate to us the mortal gravity of that offense.

  • thank you for posting this

  • @777ChiRho " nothing worthwhile can be produced without sacrifice"

Why not -- after all he is God -- surely God could have done a million more convincing things to prove he was God.

  • @badpanda84 It makes perfect sense, nothing worthwhile can be produced without sacrifice. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice! Like it says in the Bible, "....you must lose your life to find it....". God bless!

  • Matthew Kelly has done it again, love this guy! Thank you Matthew for putting things into perspective for us, God bless!
