The new ones have a new design with a type of spring loaded portafilter that tightens up to the brew port. No need for a tamper.

How would you rate this Espresso maker? I just bought one and it did not come with a tamper!

On the Maap you can also put on a tamper, but i always use a seperate one, i am not a big fan of the plastic tamper stuff.
I always use a heavy one, you always should get a tamper which feels best in your hands
