Here is an old 8mm video of my first car, a '58 Karmann Ghia convertible. My parents gave it to me for my 16th birthday in '66. First shows my Mom waxing the Ghia at Shorebird Park in Berkeley ('65). Next few seconds of me with my "Grannie" ('66). She was a cool Grannie too. Then the Ghia parked in front of our house in ('63).

  • Hey that's pretty cool. I have a 69' KG myself. They really are a totally different breed compared to modern day cars.

  • My son and I restored a '69 in '92 for his first car. He still has it and it awaits a new restoration. Definately one of the better year cars for KG.

  • beautifool car, i also like the vibe that the video gives

could you tell me who the composer of the sound is?

    thanks

  • "Mina Hinoo" by Eric Serra from the Soundtrack - The Fifth Element

  • thats way cool that you have this footage....thats cool you got another 58 vert! what happened to the one in the video??

  • The one in the video I sold in '68. Bought another '58 Ghia Cab in '85. Sold in 2000. The present one I'm keepin'.

  • beautiful film! and a lovely car

  • there is something really lovely about this short video, it just is a window to the past. We really enjoyed watching it and I think the music goes well with it too. Good job. Super 8 all the way.
