Raimondi's Scarpia is not only intelligent, handsome, attractive, and refined. He's the only Scarpia who genuinely desires Tosca and has feelings for her.

Great film. It's a shame that it is still not available on DVD.
I like the real athmosphere of summer evening in this scene.
And Raimondi's Scarpia!... unusual, but therefore so interesting. I am already tired of all these Scarpias from gestapo.. The music deserves more intelligent interpretation - like here.

in my opinion Domingo is the greatest Mario Caradossi ever

And that's great! I rather liked him here - I am not arguing with you at all!

Of course those are feelings. These artists are both great and they have created different Scarpias. Raimondi strikes a chord in my heart more than anyone else.
-
those are feelings, though! :)

Yes, and he's great. Gobbi's Scarpia is an haughty aristocrat; his demeanor contains elements of contempt for Tosca.
-
have you seen Gobbi?
-
Absolutely.
-
And did you see 2:25???
