&& fans can heat up & melt in other ways .. or whatever :) u never know what it is but close evry program .. & stop ur fan with ur finger see if the sound goes away .. yes ? buy another fan ' not the same ' maybe something with heatpipes ... no? then its something else lol...so release it
That's because the new motherboard had a later BIOS version which set the fans to spin more frequently to help M1330 users with the Nvidia graphics chip because their graphics cards were burning out! If you've an intel graphics chip then you could flash the BIOS back to an older version but I don't recommend doing so...
so I had the same annoying noise every 1-2 minutes... the service guy changed the motherboard and that noise disappeared; instead of that, my fan has become very loud, even on waiting mode.
My system run Windows XP 32 bits (pirate) instead of Vista 64. I have to say that service changed once my graphic, after that, my dvd (didn't burn anymore) and the whole motherboard.
When that noise appeared, I assumed that was because I didn't install some drivers (I run Windows withut that unnecesary finger print security shit or bluetooth)... recently (after motherboard changing) I'd noticed that there're not any noise an longer...
Mine is an HP 110- 3120 . I bought it aweek ago , and it has just the same weird sound.

Do you've a Samsung hard-drive inside?? I used to get the noise until my hard-drive failed and got replaced with a Western Digital one...

I hear this sound all the time from my M1330 when idle. Also seems to be the last sound the HDD makes when shutting down.
